Our Story...
The Human Resources Center, Inc. is a Not for Profit Corporation that has been in existence since October, 1973. The agency's purpose is to afford choices via a menu of supports to challenged adolescents and adults in vocational, community and home settings. The service area is most of six counties...Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, Carbon, Monroe and Pike.
Services provided include:
- Supervised Community Residential Facilities (generically known as group homes)
- Life Sharing (Foster care for people with Mental Retardation)
- Supported Independent Living (individuals living in their own homes/apartments with part time support)
- Home Based Waiver, (the provision of respite care, habilitation, transportation, adaptive devices and physical alterations to homes for severely challenged individuals and their families)
- OBRA (companion service for people with Mental Retardation living in nursing homes)
- Community Integrated Employment (helping individuals secure jobs in the community, providing job coaching and follow-up)
- Vocational and Community Options (classroom instruction and community exposure to a variety of employment options)
- Vocational Training Centers (modern production facilities employing a fully integrated work force of challenged and non-disabled workers.)
