Vocational Training Centers
The Human Resources Center, Inc. operates modern vocational training facilities in the town of Beach Lake, a few miles outside of Honesdale, PA, in Wayne County, and in Lords Valley, a few miles outside of Hawley, PA, in Pike County. The facilities are a place of employment for about 100 production workers and a staff of 18. The focus of the training centers is to develop to the highest potential, the skills and abilities of every employee. This is accomplished through an extensive employee interdisciplinary meeting during which the aspirations and ambitions of the employee are melded with the work available and an individualized, person centered program is developed. All employees receive real pay for their work and, because they are working at real jobs, their work experiences such as assembly operations and packaging, combined with vocational counseling and job training, help overcome the myth..."that the handicapped are eligible for only the lowest and poorest paying jobs." The training centers' integrated work force of challenged and non-disabled people function together as a team to help create a viable business operation. Our exceptionally talented employees have helped transform the facilities from, a place of employment for "special" people to, a special place of employment for people.
