To provide individualized support to all people, regardless of their “abilities.” To promote meaningful life choices, encourage self-advocacy, independence and community inclusion.
To build a community that embraces individual uniqueness and promotes community acceptance, strength and equality for future generations.
HRC first opened its doors in October, 1973. At that time, options were extremely limited for individuals with disabilities. It was important to the founders of HRC to secure continued opportunities to their loved ones and those within the community and provide the support and services they deserved.
Over the course of the last 4 decades, HRC has expanded to a staff of over 400 caring and dedicated individuals, providing services throughout NEPA in the counties of Pike, Wayne, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Carbon, and Monroe.
